The Psalms of David in Meter with the Prose Interlined, Psalm 25 – Psalm 26

PSALME XXV.

UNto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

2 O my God, I trust in thee, let me not be ashamed: let not mine enemies triumph over me.

TO thee I lift my soul, O Lord, 2 My God I trust in thee,

Let me not be asham'd; let not my foes triumph o're me.

3 Yea let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgresse without cause.

3 Yea let thou none ashamed be that do wait upon thee:

They which transgresse without a cause, let them ashamed be.

4 Shew me thy wayes, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation, on thee do I wait all the day.

4 Thy wayes Lord shew, teach me thy paths 5 lead in thy truth, teach me,

For of my safety thou art God, all day I wait on thee.

6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies, and thy loving kindnesses: for they have been ever of old.

6 Thy tender mercies, now, O Lord, do thou for me remember,

And loving kindnesses, for they have been of old for ever.

7 Remember not the sins of my youth, not my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me, for thy goodnesse sake, O LORD.

7 Let thou not of my youth the sins nor faults remembred be,

In mercy for thy goodnesse sake, O Lord remember me.

8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

9 The meek will he guide in judgement: and the meek will he teach his way.

8 God's good, upright, he will therefore his way teach sinners still:

9 The meek in judgement he will guide, them teach his way he will.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth; unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

10 The paths all of the Lord our God both truth and mercy are

To such as do his Cov'nant keep, and Testimonies rare▪

11 For thy Names sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity! for it is great.

11 Ev'n for the sake of thine own Name, O Lord, I thee intreat,

To pardon mine iniquitie: for it is very great.

12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall chuse.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the earth.

12 What man fears God? him shall he teach the way to chuse in all,

13 His soul shall dwell at case, his seed the earth inherit shall.

14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him▪ and he will shew them his covenant.

14 The secret of the Lord is with all them that fear him still;

And als the covenant that is his unto them shew he will.

15 Mine eyes are ever towards the Lord: for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

15 Towards the Lord these eyes of mine continually are set,

For he it is that now shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me: for I am desolate and afflicted.

16 O do thou turn thee unto me, have mercy me upon,

Because that I am desolate and in affliction.

17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

18 Look upon mine affliction, and my pain, and forgive all my sins.

17 Inlarg'd are troubles of my heart, me from distresse relieve,

18 See mine affliction and my pain, and all my sins forgive.

19 Consider mine enemies: for they are many, and they hate me with cruel hatred.

19 Consider thou▪ mine enemies, for that in number great

They are, and also they do me with cruel hatred hate.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in thee.

20 O do thou keep this soul of mine, and do deliver me,

Let me not be asham'd, for I do put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightnesse preserve me: for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

21 Let uprightnesse, integrity me keep who on thee wait,

22 Redeem thou Israel, O God, from all his troubles great.

PSAL. XXVI.

IUdge me, O Lord, for I have walked in mine integritie: I have trusted also in the Lord, therefore I shall not slide.

JUdge me, O Lord for walk'd I have in mine integrity,

I trusted als have in the Lord, therefore slide shall not I.

2 Examine me, O Lord, and prove me, try my reines and my heart.

3 For thy loving kindnesse is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.

2 Lord me examine and me prove, my reines try and my heart:

3 For thy love is mine eyes before, I in thy truth have walk't.

4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

4 With persons that are vain I have not …at in company.

Nor with those that dissemblers are at all go in will I.

5 I have hated the congregation of evill doers: and will not sit with the wicked.

5 Of doers ill I hated have the congregation great,

And with those that are wicked men, I in no place will sit.

6 I will wash my hands in innocency, so will I compasse thine altar, O Lord:

6 In innocency, Lord I will wash clean my hands, and so

About the Altar that is thine I compassing will go.

7 That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

7 That with of thanksgiving the voice I so may publish well,

And likewise I of all thy works that wondrous are may tell.

8 Lord I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

8 The habitation of thy house, Lord, I have loved well▪

And also the most holy place where doth thine honour dwell.

9 Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men.

10 In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

9 With sinners gather not my soul, nor life with blood that spill:

10 In whose hand is mischief, and bribes ev'n their right hand doth fill.

11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and he mercifull unto me.

11 But as for me, I will walk on in mine integritie,

Do thou redeem me, and be thou now mercifull to me.

12 My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregation will I blesse the Lord.

12 Into a place that even is my foot it standeth still:

Within the congregations the Lord God blesse I will,
