The Psalms of David in Meter with the Prose Interlined, Psalm 22 – Psalm 24
PSAL. XXII.
Mr. God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from words of my roaring.
MY God, my God, why hast thou me forsaken? why so far
Art thou from helping me, and from my words that roaring are?
2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night seasom, and am not silent.
2 In day time, O my God, I cry, but thou not hear'st the same▪
And in the season of the night, and I not silent am.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabit'st Israels praise:
4 Our fathers trusted thee, and thou them trusting didst release.
5 They cryed unto thee, and were delivered they trusted in thee, and were not confounded:
5 They cryed unto thee, and then they were deliv'red there;
They did their trust into thee put, and not confounded were.
6 But I am a worm, and no man: a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
6 But as for me a worm I am, no man in any wise:
Yea I of men am a reproach, whom people do despise.
7 All they that see me, laugh me to scorne: they shoot out the lips, they shake the head, saying▪
7 All they do laugh at me in scorn, that see me any way,
They also do shoot out the lip, they shake the head; and say.
8 He trusted on the Lord, that he would deliver him: let him deliver him seeing he delighted in him.
8 He trusted on the Lord, that he would him deliver right;
Let him deliver him, sith he had in him his delight.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb, thou didst make me hope, when I was upon my mothers breasts.
9 But thou art he that me out of the very wombe didst take;
When I was on my mothers breasts to hope thou didst me make.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: tho… art my God from my mothers belly.
10 When first I did come from the womb I was cast upon thee;
And from my mothers belly thou a God art unto me.
11 Be not far from me, for trouble is neer; for there is none to help.
12 Many buls have compassed me: strong buls of Bashan have beset me round.
11 Be not far off, for grief is near, for none to help I get:
12 Buls many compast me, strong buls of Bashan round beset.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
13 And then together with their mouths upon me gaped they;
Like to a Lion ravening, and roaring for his prey.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax, it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
14 Like water I'm powr'd out, my bones all out of joint do part:
Amid my bowels like the wax so melted is my heart.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd▪ and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
15 Like a potsheard my strength is dri'd, my tongue it cleaveth fast
Unto my jaws; and to the dust of death me brought thou hast.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
16 For dogs have compassd me about, the wicked that did meet
In an assembly me inclosd, they pierc'd my hands and feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
17 I may tell all my bones, they look and me do stare upon:
18 They 'mong them part my clothes, and lots do cast my vesture on.
19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength hast thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword: my darling from the power of the dog.
19 But be not far, Lord; O my strength, hast thee for help to me:
20 My soul from sword, from pow'r of dogs my darling do thou free.
21 Save me from the lions mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
21 O do thou from the lions mouth to save me have regard:
For from the horns of Unicorns by thee I have been heard.
22 I will declare thy Name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
22 Thy Name declare I will unto those that my brethren be,
Amid the congregation I will give praise to thee.
23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him: all ye the seed of Iacob, glorifie him and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
23 Ye that the Lord do fear, him praise, ye seed of Jacob all
Him glorifie and fear him ye the seed all of Isra'l.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted: neither hath he hid his face from him, but when he cried unto him he heard.
24 For he despisd not, nor abhor'd th'afflicteds misery:
Nor hid his face from him, but heard when he to him did cry.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
25 In the great Congregation my praise shall be of thee:
My vows before them that him fear shall payed be by me.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him, your hearts shall live for ever.
26 The meek shall eat, and satisfi'd shall be; they praise shall give
Unto the Lord that him do seek; your heart for ay shall live.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember▪ and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
27 The worlds ends shall unto the Lord turn and remember all,
All kindreds of the Nations before thee worship shall.
28 For the kingdome is the Lords: and he is the governour among the nations.
28 For unto him that is the Lord the kingdome doth belong▪
And he als is the governour the Nations among.
29 All they that be fat upon earth, shall eat, and worship: all they that go down to the dust, shall bow before him,
29 All they that fat be upon earth both eat and worship shall,
And they that go down to the dust shall bow before him all.
And none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him, it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
None can his own soul keep alive, 30 A seed shall serve him so,
It for a generation shall be counted God unto.
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousnesse unto a people that shall be borne, that he hath done this.
31 They shall come, and they shall declare the righteousnesse that's his,
Unto a people to be born that he hath done all this.
PSAL. XXIII.
THe Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
THe Lord's my shepherd, I'le not want 2 He makes me down to ly,
In pastures green, and he me doth lead the still waters by.
3 He restoreh my soul, he leadeth me in the paths of righteousnesse for his names sake.
3 My soul likewise he doth restore, and me to lead doth take
Into the paths of righteousnesse, and that for his names sake.
4 Yea, though I walk thorow the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evill: for thou art with me: thy rod, and thy staff, they comfort me.
4 Though through the valley of deaths shade I walk, I'le fear no ill,
Thou art with me; thy rod and staffe, they do me comfort still.
5 Thou preparest a table before me, in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.
5 Thou set'st in presence of my foes a table me before,
Mine head with oil thou dost anoint, my cup it runneth o're.
6 Surely goodnesse and merciemercy shall follow me all the dayes of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
6 Goodnesse and mercy all the dayes of my life certainly
Me follow shall, and in Gods house for ever dwell will I.
PSAL. XXIV.
THe earth is the Lords, and the fulnesse thereof: the world, and they that dwell therein,
2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
EArth and its fulnesse is the Lords, the world and who there dwell,
2 For it he founded on the seas, on floods it stablishd well.
3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? and who shall stand in his holy place?
Who is he that shall of the Lord ascend into the hill?
And who is he that in his place that's holy shall stand still?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart who hath not lift up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
4 He that clean hands hath and pure heart▪ and unto vainity
Who hath not lifted up his soul, nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousnesse from the God of his salvation.
5 That man shall from the Lord receive a blessing him upon,
And righteousnesse als from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of them that seek▪ him: that seek thy face O Iacob. Selah.
6 This is the generation of them that in their place
Do seek for him; that humbly do O Jacob seek thy face. Selah.
7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the king of glory shall come in.
7 Ye gates lift up your heads, and ye doores everlasting all
Be ye lift up, and then come in the king of glory shall.
8 Who is the King of glory? the Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battell.
8 Who is he that's of glory King? the Lord himself is this,
Both strong and mighty, the Lord who in battell mighty is.
9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates: even lift them up, ye everlasting doors, and the king of glory shall come in.
9 Lift ye your heads up, O ye gates, doors everlasting all
Ev'n lift them up, and then come in the king of glory shall.
10 Who is this king of glory? the Lord of hosts he is the king of glory. Selah.
10 But who of glory is this King? the Lord who hath as his
Most mighty hostes, the same is he that King of glory is. Selah.
