The Psalms of David in Meter with the Prose Interlined, Psalm 27 – Psalm 30

PSAL. XXVII.

THe Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?

THe Lord is my salvation, and light, whom shall I fear?

God's of my life the strength, of whom afraid shall I be heer!

2 When the wicked even mine enemies and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

2 When wicked men mine enemies, and foes to me so fell,

Came me upon to eat my flesh, they stumbled and they fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

3 Though 'gainst me should encampe an host, my heart shall fear no wise,

In this will I be confident, though 'gainst me war should rise.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek af…er: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the dayes of my life,

4 One thing I of the Lord desir'd, seek after that I will,

That all dayes of my life I may dwell in the Lords house still.

To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

There of the Lord for to behold the beauty with desire;

And that within the Temple, I, that is his may enquire.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shal he hide me, he shall set me up upon a rock.

5 For he in his pavilion shall me hide in trouble great:

Hee'l hide me in his secret tent, hee'l on a rock me set.

6 And now shall my head be lifted up above …ine enemies round about me:

6 And at this present time my head it shal… uplifted be

Above those men that round about are enemies to me.

Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy: I will sing, yea I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Therefore I in his Tabernacle will sacrifice afford

Of joy, I will sing; yea, I will sing praises to the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face, my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord will I seek.

7 Lord, hear when with my voice I cry: me answer, grant me grace:

8 When thou saidst, Seek my face, my heart, said, Lord, I'l seek thy face.

9 Hide not thy face far from me, put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help.

9 Far from me hide thou not thy face, put not away from thee

Thy servant in thy wrath; thou hast a help been unto me.

Leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take mee up.

O God of my salvation, me leave not nor forsake:

10 When father, mother do me leave the Lord me up will take.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord: and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

11 The way that's thine do thou me teach O Lord, and lead thou me

In a plain path, because of such as enemies to me be.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for falso witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breath out cruelty.

12 To my foes will give me not ov'r for witnesses that lye

'Gainst me are risen up, and such as breath out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unlesse I had beleeved to see the goodnesse of the Lord in the land of the living.

13 I fainted had, unlesse that I believed had to see

The Lords own goodnesse in the land of them that living be.

14 Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say on the Lord.

14 Wait on God, be of courage good, and he shall strength afford

Unto thy heart: yea, do thou wait, I say, upon the Lord.

PSAL. XXVIII.

UNto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock, be not silent to me: lest if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

O Lord, my rock, to thee I'le cry, not silent be to me;

Lest I like men gone down to pit be, if thou silent be.

2 Hear the voice of my suplications, when I cry unto thee: when I lift up my hands toward thy holy Oracle.

4 Give them according to their deeds, and wickednes of heart,

Give them after their handy work, them render their desert.

5 Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.

5 Because Gods works they not regard, north operation all

Of his own hands; he them destroy, and not build up he shall.

6 Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.

6 For ever blessed be the Lord, and that because that he

Hath of the supplications the voice heard made by me.

7 The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth,

7 The Lord's my strength and shield, my heart it's trust upon him laid,

And I am help'd; therefore my heart to joy is greatly made▪

And with my song will I praise him.

8 The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

And with my song him praise I will 8 The Lord their strength he is;

And he the saving strength is of th' Anointed that is his.

Do thou them also feed, and the… do thou lift up for ever
