IN mercy Lord bow down thine e…
hear thou me by and by,
For needy in a great diſtreſſe,
and alſo poor am I.
verse 2 My ſoul now, for I holy am,
preſerve by thy good will:
O thou my GOD thy ſervant ſave
that truſteth in thee ſtill.
verse 3 Since Lord I to thee daily cry
be mercifull to me:
verse 4 Rejoice, O Lord, thy ſervants ſoul
for it I lift to thee.
verse 5 For thou LORD art for ever good
and to forgive moſt free;
And in mercy moſt plenteous als
to all that call on thee.
verse 6 Unto the prayer that I make
in mercy now give ear,
And to my ſupplications voice,
O LORD, attend and hear.
verse 7 In the day of my trouble I
will ſurely call on thee,
For thou in thy great mercy wilt
moſt ſurely anſwer me.
verse 8 Among the gods, O LORD, to thee
there's none like great or ſmall,
Nor are there any works now like
unto thy workes at all.
verse 9 All nations great whom thou O Lord
haſt made; mov'd by thy fame
Shall come and worſhip thee before
and glorifie thy Name.
verse 10 For thou art very great indeed
and by thy power are done
Moſt wondrous things that heer we ſee:
thou art ev'n God alone,
verse 11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, I wil
walk in thy truth ſincere,
By thy good ſprit unite my heart
thy holy Name to feare,
verse 12 O Lord my God, with all my h…
praiſe I will gladly thee,
And thy great Name for evermore
I als will glorifie.
verse 13 For thy mercy now towards me
in greatneſſe doth excell,
And thou my ſoul deliv'red haſt
even from the loweſt hell.
verse 14 O GOD, the proud againſt men
troups violent now have met,
That for my ſoul have ſought, and h…
thee not before them ſet.
verse 15 But thou Lord, a God gracious a…
and of compaſſion full,
Long ſuffring, and moſt plenteous a…
in truth and merciemercy ſtill.
verse 16 O turne to me, and in diſtreſſe
upon me mercy have,
Unto thy ſervant give thy ſtrength,
thine hand-maids ſon now ſave.
verse 17 For good me ſhew a token tha…
my haters may it ſee
…nd be aſham'd, becauſe thou LORD,
didſt help and comfort me,
PSAL. LXXXVII.
NOw in the holie mountaines his
fundation is not ſmall;
The gate of Zion GOD loves more
then Jacobs dwellings all.
O GODs citie moſt glorious things
are ſpoken ſtill of thee,
I'le Babylon and Rachab name
to them that now know me.
…ehold Tyre and Philiſtia,
a people moſt forlorne,
…ee alſo Ethiopia,
this man ev'n there was borne:
And of Sion it ſhall be ſaid,
this and that man at laſt
Was borne in Her? and the moſt High
eſtabliſh ſhall her faſt.
The Lord ſhal count when he writs up
the people once profane,
…hat this man in this city was
renew'd and borne again.
verse 7 Both ſingers there and players …
on inſtruments ſhall be:
All my beſt hearts affections ſtill
as well ſprings are in thee.
PSAL. LXXXVIII.
LORD GOD of my ſalvation
I have with all my might
Still cri'd in mine affliction,
before thee day and night.
verse 2 Let my prayer before thee come
that thou the ſame my hear;
In my diſtreſſe and grief incline
unto my cry thine ear.
verse 3 For my ſoul is of troubles full,
which daily vex'd me have,
My poor diſtreſſed life alſo
drawes neer unto the grave,
verse 4 I counted am with them that d…
into the pit doth fall,
I verilie am as a man,
that hath no ſtrength at all.
verse 5 Like ſlaine that lie in grave amo…
the dead from doings free
Whom thou remembreſt not, and they
cut off by thy hand be.
Thou haſt me with thy hād laid down
the loweſt pit me keeps,
…n darkneſſe I do ſtill abide,
even in the greateſt deeps.
Thy wrath doth lye upon me hard
and thou who others ſaves,
Me haſt afflicted fearfully
with all thy boiſtrous waves.
Thou mine acquaintance far from me
haſt put; as of no worth
Thou haſt me made abhorr'd, I now
ſhut up can not come foorth.
verse 9 By reaſon of affliction, Lord,
thus mourneth ſtill mine eye,
Upon thee daily have I call'd,
and ſtretch'd mine hands to thee.
verse 10 Wilt thou by thine Almighty hand
ſhew wonders to the dead?
Or ſhall the dead ariſe at all
thee for to praiſe indeed?
verse 11 Thy loving kindneſſe ſhall it be
declared in the grave?
Or of thy faithfulneſſe ſhall men
ſenſe in deſtruction have?
verse 12 Shall in the dark thy wonders b…
known? And thy righteouſneſſe
Shall it be known even in the land
of long forgetfulneſſe?
verse 13 But unto thee I cryed have,
O LORD, with good intent,
And in the morning early ſhall
my prayer thee prevent.
verse 14 O Lord, why doſt thou thus caſt
my weari'd ſoul from thee?
And why hidſt thou in anger hot
thy pleaſant face from me?
verse 15 From my youth up I troubled a…
and ready for to die,
While I thy terrous ſuffer, I
diſtracted am by thee.
verse 16 Thy fearfull wrath which is m… fie…
ov'r me poor wretch doth go?
…hy terrours which all meaſure paſſe
have cut me off alſo.
They round about me daily came,
like water guſhing out,
…oſt furiouſly they compaſſde me
together all about.
verse 18 Lover and friend in my diſtreſſe
far haſt thou put from me;
…nd mine acquaintance is now all
in darkneſſe hid by thee.
