The Psalms of David in Meter, Metrical Psalter · Psalm 102 – Psalm 103
PSAL. CII.
WIth an attentive ear, O LORD,
the prayer now made by me
In mercy hear, and let my cry
come quickly unto thee.
verse 2 Hide not thy face from me in dayes
when I in trouble fall,
Incline thine ear and ſpeedily
me anſwere when I call.
verse 3 For all my dayes are like the ſmoak,
conſumed by thine ire,
And all my bones are fearfully
burnt as an hearth with fire.
verse 4 My heart ſore ſmitten withred is
moſt like the graſſe indeed,
So that I through my troubles great,
forget to eat my bread.
verse 5 By reaſon alſo of the voice
of groaning me within,
My bones all dried with diſtreſſe,
do cleave unto my skin.
verse 6 I am like to a Pelican.
that lives in wilderneſſe:
And of the deſert I am like
an owle in my diſtreſſe.
verse 7 I watch alwayes, and I am as
a ſparrow that alone
In grief and ſorrow ſitteth ſtill
ev'n the houſe top upon.
verse 8 Mine enmies me do ſtill reproch
each day both ev'n and morn,
And they that are againſt me mad,
are als againſt me ſworn.
verse 9 For aſhes I have eaten ſtill
like bread as I do think,
And in my grief I mingled have
with weeping all my drink.
verse 10 Becauſe of thy moſt fearfull wrath
and indignation great,
For thou haſt lift me up and haſt
down caſt me from my ſeat.
verse 11 My dayes are like a ſhadow that
declining ſoon doth paſſe,
And I with troubles vexed ſore,
am with'red like the graſſe.
verse 12 But thou, O LORD for ever ſhalt
endure moſt ſtedfaſtlie,
And to all generations ſtill
thy remembrance ſhall be.
verse 13 Thou ſhalt ariſe, and mercy have
on Zion thus ov'rcome,
For now the time to favour her
yea the ſet time is come.
verse 14 For thy ſervants do in ſtones
delight and pleaſure take,
Yea, and the very duſt thereof
they favour for her ſake.
verse 15 So of the LORD the heathen ſhall
with rev'rence fear the Name,
And to thy glory earthly Kings
ſhall all ſtill do the ſame.
verse 16 When as the LORD in mercy ſhall
build up his Zion dear,
He ſhall then in his glory great
with Majeſty appear.
verse 17 He will regard the prayer of
the deſtitute likewiſe,
And als the prayer that they make
he never will deſpiſe.
verse 18 This for the generation
to come ſhall written be,
And people not created yet
ſhall praiſe the Lord moſt hie.
verse 19 For he look'd down hath from the height
of all his Sanctuary,
The LORD the earth all did behold
ev'n from the heavens hye.
verse 20 To hear ev'n of the priſoners all
the heavy groning breath,
To freely looſe all thoſe that are
appointed unto death.
verse 21 In Zion clearly to declare
the Lords moſt holy Name,
And alſo to ſet foorth his praiſe
ev'n in Jeruſalem.
verse 22 Whē people & the kingdomes meet
to ſerve the LORD alwayes:
verse 23 He weakned in the way my ſtrength
he ſhortned als my dayes.
verse 24 In midſt of all my dayes, I ſaid,
Lord, take me not away:
Throughout all generations ſtill;
thy yeers for ever ſtay.
verse 25 Of old thou the foundation of
the earth moſt ſure haſt laid:
The heav'ns above are the great work
which by thy hand was made.
verse 26 They periſh ſhall, but ſtedfaſtly
thou ſhalt endure alway:
Yea like a garment ſhall they all
wax old and wear away.
Thou ſhalt them as a veſture change,
and changed be they ſhall,
verse 27 But thou the ſame art, and thy yeers
ſhall have no end at all.
verse 28 The children of thy ſervants all
continue ſhall indeed;
And for all times ſhall thee before,
eſtabliſh'd be their feed.
PSAL. CIII.
O Thou my Soul, moſt thankfully
go to and bleſſe the LORD:
All that's in me, his holy Name
now bleſſe with one accord.
verse 2 Bleſſe GOD my Soul, and not forget
his benefits not ſmall,
verse 3 Who all thy ſins forgives, who als
heals thy diſeaſes all.
verse 4 Who from deſtruction doth redeem
thy life ſore preſſed down,
Who doth with loving kindneſſe thee
and tender mercies crown.
verse 5 Who fully with good things alſo
doth ſatisfie thy mouth:
So that ev'n like the Eagles ſtill
renewed is thy youth.
verse 6 The mighty Lord doth execute
ev'n righteouſneſſe moſt rare;
And judgement alſo for all thoſe
that heer oppreſſed are.
verse 7 He to his ſervant Moſes made
his wayes moſt clearly known,
And unto Iſraels children als
his valiant acts were ſhown.
verse 8 Both mercifull and gracious ſtill
the Lord delights to be;
To anger ſlow, moſt plenteous als
in mercy ſtill is he.
verse 9 He, though for ſin he whiles us check,
yet will not alwayes chide,
Nor yet will he his anger keep
for ever to abide.
verse 10 He not according to our ſins
hath dealt with us in wrath;
Nor after our iniquities
he us rewarded hath.
verse 11 For as the heaven very high
above the earth is ſet,
So toward them that doe him fear
his mercy ſtill is great.
verse 12 As far as th' Eaſt is from the Weſt,
ſo far, by his great love,
From us he our tranſgreſſions all
in mercy doth remove.
verse 13 Like as a father tenderly
his children pities heer,
So likewiſe the Lord pities them
that truely do him fear.
verse 14 For he that made us all doth know
our frame moſt perfectly:
He alſo doth remember well
that but frail duſt we be,
verse 15 As for man heer his dayes are as
the graſſe in ev'ry caſe,
As of the field a flower, ev'n ſo
he flouriſheth a ſpace.
verse 16 For over it the winde doth paſſe,
and it is gone therefore,
And after that the place thereof
ſhall know it then no more.
verse 17 But GODS mercy for ever laſts
upon them that him fear,
His righteouſneſſe doth alſo reach
to childrens children heer.
verse 18 To ſuch as ſtill his cov'nant keep,
and alſo thoſe unto
That his commandments every one
remember well to do.
verse 19 The Lord up in the heav'ns above
prepared hath his throne;
And his moſt glorious kingdome ſtill
rules over all alone.
verse 20 Ye angels that excell in ſtrength,
moſt gladly bleſſe the Lord,
Who do his precepts, hearkning well
to the voice of his word.
verse 21 Bleſſe chearfully the Lord, all ye
his hoſts that do excell,
Ye Miniſters of all his coaſts
that do his pleaſure well.
verse 22 Now bleſſe the Lord all yee he his works
and that with one accord,
Of his dominion in each place:
O my ſoul bleſſe the Lord,
