The Psalms of David in Meter, Metrical Psalter · Psalm 63 – Psalm 67
PSALME LXIII.
O God, thou art my God alone,
thee early ſeek I will:
My ſoul in great affliction
ev'n thirſteth for thee ſtill:
My fleſh alſo now weari'd much
doth alwayes long for thee,
In this a dry and thirſtie land,
even where no waters be.
verse 2 To ſee thy glory and thy power,
which ever great hath been,
So as I in the Sanctuary
have thee moſt clearly ſeen.
verse 3 Becauſe thy loving kindneſſe is
more dear then life to me,
My lips ſhall ſtill in chearfull ſongs
ſing praiſes unto thee.
verse 4 Thus while I live here on the eart…
thee ſurely bleſſe I will.
I in thy name alwayes my hands
will lift up to thee ſtill.
verse 5 My ſoul ſhall as with marrow, and
with fatneſſe filled be,
My mouth alſo with joyfull lips
due praiſe ſhall ſing to thee.
verse 6 When I laid down upon my bed
remember thee aright,
And alſo on thee meditate
in watches of the night.
verse 7 Becauſe that thou haſt ben my help,
therefore I ever ſtill
Ev'n in the ſhadow of thy wings
rejoice moſt gladly will.
verse 8 My ſoul directed in thy wayes,
hard followeth after thee:
Thy right hand that is full of power
alwayes upholdeth me.
verse 9 But thoſe that ſeek for to deſtoy
my ſoul by wicked arts,
Shall be preſſd down, and of the earth
go to the lower parts.
verse 10 They ſhal ev'n by the bloody ſword
fall down as all ſhall ſee
Unburi'd, they for foxes teeth
a portion then ſhall be.
verse 11 But in GOD, ſhall the King rejoic…
each one als glory ſhall
That ſweares by him: but ſtopt ſhal be
the mouth of lyars all.
PSAL. LXIV.
O GOD while I unto thee pray;
be pleaſd my voice to hear,
Of th' enmie that moſt cruel is
preſerve my life from fear.
verse 2 Me from the ſecret counſell hide,
of thoſe that wicked be;
From th' inſurrection of the men
that work iniquitie.
verse 3 Who whet their tongue with grea… deſpigh…
like ſharp two edged ſwords,
And to ſhoot arrows bend their bows
even their moſt bitter words.
verse 4 That they may ſhoot in ſecret at
the man that's perfect heere,
They ſuddenly do ſhoot at him
and not at all do feare.
verse 5 Themſelves they in a matter ill
encourage, privilie
Of laying ſnares they commune ſtill;
they ſay, who ſhall them ſee?
verse 6 They ſearch out great iniquities,
a ſearch accompliſh they
Moſt diligent; their inward thoughts
and hearts are deep alway.
verse 7 But God ſhall with an arrow ſwift
ſhoot at them all therefore,
Then ſuddenly they by his might
ſhall all be wounded ſore.
verse 8 So they their own ill tōgue ſhal make
upon themſelves to fall,
All that them in their folies ſee
away flee from them ſhall.
verse 9 Then all men tremble ſhal and fear,
and Gods work ſhall declare,
For wiſely they conſider ſhall
of all his doings rare.
verse 10 The righteous in the LORD ſhal be
moſt glade and in him truſt:
And all thoſe glory ſhall, who are
in heart upright and juſt.
PSALME LXV.
PRaiſe waits for thee in Sion LOR…
vowes to thee pay'd ſhall be,
verse 2 O thou that heareſt prayer ſtill,
all fleſh ſhall come to thee.
verse 3 Iniquities do ſtill prevaile,
againſt me every day,
As for thoſe our trangreſſions all
thou ſhalt them purge away.
verse 4 Bleſt is the man whom thou alway
doſt choſe and cauſeſt well
T'approach to thee, that in thy courts
he may in ſafety dwell,
We with the goodneſſe of thy houſe
well ſatiſfi'd ſhall be,
Ev'n of thy temple which indeed
is holy as we ſee,
verse 5 By things that are moſt terrible
thou in thy righteouſneſſe,
O GOD of our ſalvation us
wilt anſwere in diſtreſſe.
Who art of the ends of the earth
the confidence alone,
And of all them that a faire off
the deep ſea are upon.
verse 6 Which by his ſtrēgth moſt wonderful
the mountaines high doth ſet,
Moſt faſt alwayes, and girded is,
with power alwayes great.
verse 7 Which of the ſeas the noiſe doth ſtil
the noiſe both great and ſmall
Of all their waves the tumult als
even of the people all.
verse 8 They that dwell in the utmoſt parts
ſtill at thy tokens quake,
Both Even and Morns outgoins all
thou to rejoice doſt make.
verse 9 The earth thou viſit'ſt in a drought,
and it thou wattreſt ſtill,
Thou greatly it enricheſt with
GOD'S flood of water full.
For them in their neceſſitie,
good come thou doſt prepare.
When thou haſt ſo provided well,
even for it every where.
verse 10 Its ridges thou aboundantly
doſt water with thine hand,
Thou ſetleſt alſo ſtedfaſtly
the furrowes of the land:
Thou in thy favour mak'ſt it ſoft,
with ſhowres that timely fall,
Thou bleſſeſt alſo graciouſlie,
the ſpringing thereof all.
verse 11 Thou with thy goodneſſe liberally
the fertile yeer doſt crown:
And where thou walkeſt, all thy path
much fatneſſe ſtill drop down.
verse 12 They drop upon the paſtures of
the wilderneſſe moſt wide;
And then anone, the little hills
rejoice on every ſide.
verse 13 The paſtures richly clothed are
with flocks that plenty bring,
The valleys cov'red are with corne,
they ſhout for joy, they ſing.
PSAL. LXVI.
YEE lands all thankfully to GOD,
a joyfull noiſe now raiſe:
verse 2 Sing foorth the honour of his Name
and glorious make his praiſe.
verse 3 Say unto GOD, how terrible
art thou in works moſt great?
Throgh thy great power ſhal all thy foes
themſelves to thee ſubmit.
verse 4 Heer all the earths inhabitants
ſhall worſhip to thee bring,
And to thee ſhall ſing joyfully,
they to thy Name ſhall ſing.
verse 5 Come and ſee of the mightie GOD
the works done now and then,
He in his doing terrible
is to the ſons of men.
verse 6 Into dry land he turn'd the ſea:
they who were then his choiſe
On foot went through the flood, & we
did there in him rejoice.
verse 7 He by his power for ever rules,
his eyes the nations ſee:
Let not thoſe that rebellious are
exalt themſelves to hie,
verse 8 O bleſſe our God moſt heartilie
ye people by him ſpar'd
And of his praiſe make gloriouſlie
the voice for to be heard.
verse 9 Which holdeth by his might our ſo…
in life, as we may ſee,
And ſuffreth not our feet at all
once moved for to be.
verse 10 For thou, O GOD moſt neerly ha…
us prov'd at thy deſire,
Thou haſt in all things tryed us
as ſilver's tryde by fire.
verse 11 Into the trapping net thou us
didſt bring, even as a prey,
And thou affliction of great weight
upon our loins didſt lay.
verse 12 Men thou haſt cauſd ride ov'r o… head…
we went with great diſgrace
Throgh fire and water, but thou broug…
us to a wealthy place.
verse 13 I will now go into thine houſe,
with burnt offerings alway;
I will moſt chearfully my vows
at this time to thee pay.
verse 14 Which my lips in my great diſtreſſe
have utt'red thee before,
And which my mouth hath ſpoken als
when I was troubled ſore.
verse 15 Of fatlings, ſacrifices burnt
I offer will to thee
With th'incenſe of rams bullocks, goats
ſhall offred be by me.
verse 16 Now come all ye that fear the Lord,
to hear, your hearts prepare,
And what he hath done for my ſoul
I will to you declare.
verse 17 Moſt fervently ſtill unto him
I with my mouth did cry,
And he alſo was with my tongue
extolled by and by.
verse 18 If I a man profane in heart
regard iniquitie.
God when my prayer I powre out
will not give ear to me.
verse 19 But God in mercy verily
hath heard me by and by,
He of my prayer attended hath
unto the voice and cry.
verse 20 O bleſt be God which hath not tur…
my prayer now away,
Nor yet his mercy wonderfull
from me in any way.
PSAL. LXVII.
GOD unto us be mercifull,
and bleſſe us with his grace,
And cauſe alwayes to ſhine on us
his bright and glorious face.
verse 2 That thy good way upon the earth
to all men may be known,
And als among the nations all
thy ſaving health be ſhown.
verse 3 Thee let the people praiſe, O GOD
let them all praiſe thee ſo,
verse 4 O let the Nations ſtill be glad
and ſing for joy alſo.
For thou the people righteouſly
ſhalt judge by thy good will,
And all the Nations on the earth
ſhalt govern wiſely ſtill.
verse 5 O God, thee let the people praiſe,
thee praiſe ev'n let them all:
verse 6 Then ſhal the earth her increaſe yeeld
and our God bleſſe us ſhall.
verse 7 God in his mercy ſurely ſhall
us bleſſe both far and neere,
And als the ends of all the earth
with reverence ſhall him fear.
