TO THE READER.

AT the publiſhing of the Paraphraſe and Annotations on the New Teſtament, It was eaſie to foreſee that many things would daily tender themſelves by way of farther contribution to that deſign, either as lines omitted in the firſt draught, or as colors to be ſuperadded to the former lines; Which having accordingly fallen out, I could not have ſo good an opinion of what was already done, as to reiect any the leaſt mite, which was willing thus to adde unto the Corban. Beſides, I found ſometimes that the ſpunge was as uſefull as the pencill. And now after three years I thought it not amiſſe to examine the heap, and ſee what this Collecta would amount to, and finding it ſuch as is here preſented, it ſeemed an act of ſome juſtice to thoſe who have already furniſh'd themſelves with the greater volume, to diſpoſe of theſe gleanings ſo as they might with leaſt coſt or trouble be partakers of them: This is the only reaſon both that the courſe here taken of a few additionall ſheets is preferred before a new augmented and more emendate impreſſion, and alſo that ſome very minute unconſiderable additions and alterations are here inſerted; that in caſe a ſecond impreſſion of the whole ſhould be called for, it may bring nothing with it which is not here already to be found in the former volume, and this Review of it. If any further plenty ſhall hereafter offer it ſelf, the ſame eaſie method may ſtill be taken. And this is all that was neceſſary to advertiſe the Reader in this Praeloquium.

O pray for the peace of Jeruſalem!

Hen: Hammond.
