The Psalms of David in Meter with the Prose Interlined, Psalm 69 – Psalm 70
PSAL. LXIX.
SAve me, O God▪ for the waters are come in unto my soul.
O. Thou who art my God, do thou salvation send to me▪
For that unto my very soul come in the waters be.
2 I sink in deep mire where there is no standing: I am come into the deep waters, where the flouds overflow me.
2 Into deep mire, I down do sink where there's no standing now,
I am into deep waters come where floods me overflow.
3 I am weary of my crying, my thagat is dried: mine eyes fail, while I walt for my GOD.
3 I of my crying weary am and dryed is my throat,
Mine eyes they also do me fail, while for my God I wait.
4. They that hate me without a cause, are moe then the hairs of mine head:
4 Those men that do without a cause unto me hatred bear,
They then the the hairs upon my head in greater number are.
They that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mightie: then I restored that which I took not away.
Who being mine en'mies wrongfully would me destroy, ev'n they
Are mighty; then I that restord which I took not away.
5 O God, thou knowest my foolishnesse, and my sins are not hid from thee.
6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed for my sake:
5 My folie, Lord, thou know'st, my sins they are not hid from thee:
6 Let none be sham'd that on thee wait Lord God of hosts for me,
Let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
O thou the God of Israel, let those that undertake
To seek for thee, not be at all confounded for my sake.
7 Because for thy sake I have born reproach: shame hath covered my face.
8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mothers children.
7▪ Because I bare reproach for thee, my face is cov'rd with shame:
8 Strange to my brethren, alient I to mothers children am.
9 For the zeal▪ of thine house hath eaten me up: and the reproaches of them that reproached thee, are fallen upon me.
9 For of the house that's thine the zeal it hath up eaten me;
On me are their reproaches fall'n that have reproached thee.
10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11 I made sackcloth also my garment: and I became a proverb to them.
10 I wept, and vext my soul with fast reproached for the same;
11 I sackcloath als my garment made their porverb I became.
12 They that sit in the gate, speak against me: and I was the song of the drunkards.
12 The men that in the gate do sit do speak against me wrong,
And I of those that drunkards are was made to be the song.
13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy merciemercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
13 But in a time acceptable my pray'r Lord is to thee:
In truth of thy salvation, Lord, and mercy great hear me.
14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink▪ let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
14 Deliver me out of the mire, and me from sinking keep:
Save me from those that do me hate, and out of waters deep.
15 Let not the water flood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit stut her mouth upon me.
15 Let not the water floud ov'rflow, nor deep let me devour:
And for to shut her mouth on me let not the pit have pow'r
16 Hear me, O Lord, for thy loving kindnesse is good▪ turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
16 Do thou me hear, O Lord, ev'n for thy loving kindnesse good,
Turn unto me according to thy mercies multitude.
17 And hide not thy face from thy servant▪ for I am in trouble: hear me speedilie.
18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
17 Thy face not from thy servant hide▪ in trouble: soon me hear.
18 Redeem and saue me from my foes, unto my soul draw near.
19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour; my adversaries are all before thee.
19 Thou my reproach & shame hast known and my dishonour more:
Those that mine adversaries be are all now thee before.
20 Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am full of heavinesse: and I looked for some to take pitie, but there was none;
20 Reproach it broken hath my heart, I'm full of heavinesse:
I look'd for some to pitie me, but none at all there was.
And for comforters but I found none.
21 They gave me also gall for my meat, and in my thirst they gave me vineger to drink.
And for comforters, but found none. 21 From them I did receive
Gall for my meat, and viniger to drink in thirst they gave.
22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
22 Let their own table them before ev'n for a snare be seen,
Let it become a trap which should have for their welfare been.
23 Let their eyes be darkned, that they see not: and make their loins continually to shake.
23 That they not see let thou their eyes be darkned by and by,
And do thou also make their loins to shake continually.
24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathfull anger take hold of them.
24 Powre out thine indignatation upon them manifold.
And let thy wrathfull anger now of each of them take hold.
25 Let their habitation be desolate and … none dwell in their tents▪
25 Let thou their habitation be desolate alway;
And let thou none within their tents as in a dwelling stay.
26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.
26 For they do persecute him whom thou smitten hast before,
And they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded sore.
27 Adde iniquitie unto their iniquitie, and let them not come into thy righteousnesse.
27 Adde thou iniquitie unto their former wickednesse,
And let not such now come at all into thy righteousnesse.
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
28 Out of the livings book let them be blotted out by thee;
And with those men that righteous are let them not written be.
29 But I am poor and sorrowfull: let thy salvation (O God) set me up on high.
30 I will praise the Name of God with a song, and will magnifie him with thanksgiving.
29 But Lord, poor sorrowfull I am, let thy health set me hy:
30 I with a song Gods Name will praise, with thanks him magnify.
31 This also shall please the Lord better then an ox, or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
32 The hum…le shall see this, and be glad: and your hearts shall live that seek God.
31 Then bull or …x with horns and hoofs this God more joy shall give,
32 The humble they this glade shall see, your hearts seek God and live.
33 For the Lord heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and everie thing that moveth therein.
33 For God the poor hears, and he not his prisoners doth despise,
34 Let heav'n, earth, seas, and every thing that therein moves him praise.
35 For God will save Sion, and will … the cities of Iudah, that they may dwell there, … have it in possession.
35 For God will Judahs cities build, and he will Sion save,
That they may dwell therein, and so it in possession have.
36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his Name, shall dwell therein.
36 Their seed that his own servants are, inherit shall the same,
And therein they a dwelling place shall have that love his Name.
PSAL LXX.

2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul.
HAste, Lord, make haste, Lord, me to help, and to deliver me:
2 Let them that for my soul do seek sham'd and confounded be
Let them be turned back ward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha aha.
Who wish my hurt,, turn'd back, and to confusion put be they;
3 Turn'd back for to reward their shame be they, …A, …, that say.
4 Let all those that seek thee, rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation, say continually, Let God be magnified.

Let such as love thy health, say still, God magnified be.
