Chriſt Crucified: OR, THE MARROW of the GOSPEL, Evidently holden forth in LXXII Sermons, on the whole 53. Chapter of Iſaiah.

WHEREIN The Text is clearly and judiciouſly opened up, and a great many moſt appoſite, profoundly ſpiritual and very edifying points of Doctrine in a dilectable variety drawen from it; With choice and excellent practical Improvements made of them.

Wherein alſo ſeveral Adverſaries of the Truth, as Socinians, Papiſts, Arminians and Antinomians, are ſmartly, ſolidly and ſuccinctly reaſoned with and refuted.

Wherein, Moreover many Errours in Practice incident to Profeſſours otherwiſe ſound and Orthodox in their Opinions are diſcovered; And not a few grave, deep, and very concerning Caſes of Conſcience, ſoberly and ſatisfyingly diſcuſſed.

By that able Miniſter of the New-Teſtament Mr. JAMES DURHAM, ſometime Miniſter of the Goſpel at Glaſgow, and ſolemnly called to a publick Profeſſion of Divinity in the Univerſity there, and alſo His Maieſties Chaplain in Ordinary when He was in Scotland.

1 Cor. 2.2. For I determined not to know any thing among you, ſave Ieſus Chriſt, and him crucified.

Gal. 3.1. O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whoſe eyes Ieſus Chriſt hath been evidently ſet forth, crucified among you?

1 Cor. 1.23. But we preach Chriſt crucified, unto the Iews a ſtumbling-block, and unto the Greeks foolishneſs; But unto them which are called, both Iews and Greeks, Chriſt, the power of God, and the wiſdom of God.

2 Cor. 5.21. For he hath made him to be ſin for us, who knew no ſin; that we might be made the righteouſneſs of God in him.

1 Pet. 2.24. Who his own ſelf bare our ſins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to ſin, should live unto righteouſneſs: by whoſe ſtripes ye were healed.

Auguſtinus in Pſalm 129. Sacerdos noſter a nobis accepit, quod pro nobis offerret; accepit a nobis carnem; in ipſa carne victima pro nobis factus eſt, holocauſtum factus eſt, ſacrificium factus eſt.
