Thou ſhalt not bow down to them, nor worſhip them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, and viſit the ſinnes of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and ſhew mercy unto thouſands of them that love me and keep my commandements.

3. Thou ſhalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltleſſe that taketh his Name in vain.

I beleeve in the holy Ghoſt, the holy Catholike Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveneſſe of ſinnes, the reſurrection of the body, and the life everlaſting. Amen.

Q. What is meant by deſcended into hell?

A. Not that he went down into hell, but that he remained a while in the ſtate of the dead, the body in the grave, and the ſoul in Paradiſe or Heaven. Or, that he ſuffered torments aequivalent to the pains of hell, and ſuch as no meer mortall man could ſuffer.
