The Psalms of David in Meter with the Prose Interlined, Psalm 90 – Psalm 93

PSAL. XC.

LOrd, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

2. Before the mountains were brought forth,

LOrd, thou hast been our dwelling place in generations all▪

2 Before that thou the mountains high to be brought forth didst call.

Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world: even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God.

Or ever thou hadst form'd the earth, and all the world abroad,

Ev'n thou from everlasting art to everlasting God.

3 Thou turnest man to destruction, and sayest, Return ye children of men.

3 Thou dost unto destruction man that is mortall turn,

And unto them thou doest say, Ye sons of men return.

4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday, when it is past. and as a watch in the night.

4 Because that ev'n a thousand yeers do seem but in thy sight

As yesterdey when it is past, and as a watch in night.

5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood▪ they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grasse which groweth up.

5 They are as sleep, as with a flood thou carriest them away;

And in the morning like to grasse which groweth up are they.

6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up: in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

6 It in the morning groweth up, and then it …:

And in the ev'ning tide it is cut down, and withereth.

7 For we are consumed by thine anger: and by thy wrath are we troubled.

7 For we alwayes consumed are by anger that's in thee;

And likewise by thy fear…ull wrath sore troubled all are wee.

8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee: our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

8 Before thee our iniquities were also set by thee,

In light ev'n of thy countenance our sins that secret be.

9 For all our dayes are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our yeers as a tale that is told.

9 For in thy wrath our dayes away are passd all to an end,

And like unto a tale that's told so we our years do spend.

10 The dayes of our years are threescore yeers and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourscore yeers:

10 The dayes of all our yeers threescore and ten years are, we see:

And if by reason of great strength ev'n fourscore yeers they be;

Yet is their strength labour and sorrow: for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Yet is their strength both labour hard, and sorrow every way,

For it is very soon cut of, and we do slie away.

11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

12 So teach us to number our dayes, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdome.

11 Who of thine anger knows the power? thy wrath is as thy fear:

12 Teach us to count our dayes, t'apply our hearts to wisedome near.

13 Return (O Lord) how long? and let it …pent thee concerning thy servants.

…3 Do thou return to us, O Lord, how long to wrath so bent?

Concerning those thy servants all now let it thee repent.

14 O satisfie us early with thy mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our dayes.

14 O with the mercies that are thine us early satisfie,

That we rejoice and glad also for all our dayes may be.

15 Make us glade according to the dayes wherein thou hast afflicted us: and the yeares wherein we have seen evill.

15 Make thou us glad according to the dayes we griev'd have been:

And als according to the yeers wherein we ill have seen.

16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants: …nd thy glorie unto their children.

17 And let the beautie of the Lord our God be upon us.

16 Thy servants and their children let thy work and glory see

17 And let ev'n of the Lord our God the beauty on us be.

And establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Do thou upon us of our hands the work establish now;

Yea and the work that's of our hands establish it do thou.

PSAL. XCI,

HE that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

HE that doth in the secret place of the most high reside,

Under the shade of him that is th' Almighty shall abide:

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fo…tresse, my God, in him will I trust.

2 I of the Lord my God will say, He my refuge is still,

He is my fortresse and my God, in him put trust I will.

3 Surely, he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noysome pestilence.

3 Assure… …e unto thee shall give deliverence,

Both from the fowlers snare, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shal… thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

4 He with his feathers cov'r thee shall, thy trust shall surely be

Under his wings; a buckler shield his trueth shall be to thee.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terrour by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

5 Thou shalt in no way be afraid for terrour that's by night,

Nor for the arrow that doth flye by day while it is light.

6 Nor for the pestilenco that walketh in darknesse; not for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

6 Nor for the pestilence that walks in darknesse every way.

Nor yet for the destruction that wasteth at noon day.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come righ…hee.

7 A thousand at thy side shall fall, and also thousands ten

At thy right hand: but not at all it shall come nigh thee then.

8 OnelyOnly with thine eyes shalt thou behold: and see the reward of the wicked.

8 With thine own eyes thou only shalt behold this thing to be,

And of the men that wicked are thou the reward shalt see.

9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.

9 Because thou, which is my refuge, hast made the Lord alone,

Yea ev'n him that is the most High thy habitation.

10 There shall no evill befall thee: neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy wayes.

10 No plague thy dwelling shal come neer, no ill shall thee befall:

11 For thee to keep in all thy wayes his Angels charge he shall.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 Up in their hands in dangers great they shall thee bear anone,

Lest thou should dash at unawars thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample underfeet.

13 Upon the Adder tread thou shalt, and on the Lion strong:

The Dragon trample under feet thou shalt and lion yong.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my Name.

14 I him deliver will, because he set his love on me:

I will him set on high because, that known my name hath he.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him, and honour him.

15 Hee'l call on me, I'le answer him, I will in trouble still

Be with him, I'le deliver him and honour him I will.

16 With long life will I satisfie him, and sh…w him my salvation.

16 Yea with a life that is prolong'd I will him satisfy,

And also my salvation unto him shew will I.

PSAL. XCII.

IT is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy Name, O most High:

TO render thanks unto the Lord it is a comely thing,

And to thy name O thou most High due praises for to sing.

2 To shew forth thy loving kindnesse in the morning: and thy faithfulnesse every night.

2 Thy loving kindnesse to …ew forth ev'n in the morning light,

And to declare the faithfulnesse that thine is ev'ry night.

3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery: upon the harp, with a solemn sound.

3 Upon an instrument that hath ten strings that do rebound,

And also on the psalterie and harp with solemn sound.

4 For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

4 For thou, O Lord, now through thy work hast made me to be glad:

And in the works triumph I will which by thy hands were made.

5 O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

6 A brutish man knoweth not: neither doth a fool understand this.

5 Thy thoughts are very deep, how great are works done by thy hands?

6 A brutish man not knoweth this, a fool not understands.

7 When the wicked spring as the grasse, and when all the workers of iniquity doe flourish;

7 When as those that are wicked men as grasse do spring on hy,

And when they also flourish all that work iniquity.

It is that they shall be destroyed for ever.

8 But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.

It is that they for ever shall destroyed be therefore:

8 But thou O Lord, art the most high, and that for evermore.

9 For lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for lo, thine enemies shall perish: all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

9 For lo thine en'mies Lord, For lo thine en'mies perish shall:

The workers of iniquitie they shall be scattred all.

10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

10 But like the horn of unicorne thou shalt my horn for me

Exalt on high, and with fresh oyl I shall anointed be.

11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the▪ wicked that rise up against me.

11 Mine eye shall also my desire see on mine enemies,

Mine ear of ill men my desire shall hear that 'gainst me rise

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palmtree, he shall grow like the cedar in Lebanon.

12 The righteous like the palme tree then shall flourish forth anone,

He shall like to the Cedar grow that is in Lebanon.

13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God.

13 They that within the Lord his house by him fast planted are,

Shall of our God within the courts for ever flourish fair.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age: they shall be fat and flourishing:

14 And in old age most pleasant fruit they also forth shall bring,

And furthermore they shall be fat and shall be flourishing.

15 To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousnesse in him.

15 To shew that upright is the Lord, he is a rock to me:

And also no unrighteousnesse at all there in him be.

PSAL. XCIII.

THe Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty: the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself:

THe Lord doth reign, he cloathed is with Majestie throughout,

The Lord is cloth'd with strength wherewith he girds himself about.

The world also is established, that it cannot be moved.

2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

The world is also stablished that it can not depart:

2 Of old thy throne is fix'd, and thou from everlasting art.

3 The flouds have lifted up, O Lord, the flouds have lifted up their voice: the flouds lift up their waves.

3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods they high their voice

Have lifted up; the floods their waves do list up with a noise.

4 The Lord on high is mightier then the noise of many waters: yea, then the mighty waves of the sea.

4 Then many waters noise the Lord is mightier on hie,

Yea more then the most mighty waves that are within the sea.

5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holinesse becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever.

5 The testimonies that are thine, are very sure together,

And holinesse thy house, O Lord, becometh ev'n for ever.
