The Psalms of David in Meter with the Prose Interlined, Psalm 7 – Psalm 8

PSAL. VII.

O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust, save me from all them that persecute mee, and deliver me.

O Thou that art the Lord my God, I put my trust in thee:

From all them that me persecute save and deliver me.

2 Lest he tear my soul like a Lion, renting it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

2 Lest like a Lion he my soul tear, and in pieces small

It rent; while to deliver me there is not one at all.

3 O Lord my God, if I have done this▪ if there be iniquity in my hands:

3 O Lord my God, if so be that this hath been done by me,

Or if at all within my hands iniquity there be.

4 If I have rewarded evill unto him that was at peace with me, (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemie.)

4 If him that was a peace with me, I ill rewarded so,

Yea, I have him delivered that's without cause my foe.

5 Let the enemie persecute my soul, and take it, yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.

5 Let th' enemie pursue my soul and take't, yea let him thrust

My life down on the earth, and lay mine honour in the oust. Selah.

6 Arise▪ O Lord, in thine anger lift up thy self because of the rage of mine enemies, and awake for me to the judgement that thou hast commanded.

6 Rise in thy wrath Lord lift thy self for my foes raging fast.

And for me to the judgement wake that thou commanded hast.

7 So shall the congregation of the people compasse thee about: for their sakes therefore returne thou on high.

7 So of the people thee about the congregation

Shall compasse; for their sakes therefore, do thou on high returne?

8 The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousnesse, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

8 The Lord, he shall the people judge, a judge Lord to me be

After my righteousnesse, and mine integritie in me.

9 O let the wickednesse of the wicked come … an end, but establish the just: for the righteous God tri…th the hearts and reins.

9 Oh let the wickeds malice end, but stablish stedfastly

The just man; for the righteous God the hearts and reins doth try.

10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart

11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

10 Or God which saves … right in heart is my defence alway:

11 The just God judgeth; with the bad God's angry every day.

12 If he turn not, he will wh…t his sword: he hath bent his bowe, and made it readie

12 If that he doth not turn again, his sword then whet will he,

He hath his bow bent, and hath it made ready for to be.

13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death: he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.

13 He hath also prepar'd for him the instruments of death,

Against the persecutors he his arrows ord …ineth.

14 Behold he trav…lleth with iniquitie, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forthfalshood.

14 Behold, he with iniquitie doth travell as in birth,

And he mischief conoeived hath, and falshood hath broughr forth.

15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fal… into the ditch which he made.

15 He made a pit, and digged it, and he a fall did take

Ev'n into that same very ditch which he himself did make.

16 His mischief shall returne upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

16 Upon▪ his own head shall return mischief which is his own,

His dealing that is violent shall on his pate come down.

17 I will praise the Lord accordng to his righteousnesse: and will sing praise to the Name of the Lord most High.

17 According to his righteousnesse the Lord now praise will I

And will sing praise unto the Name of God that is most hye.

PSALME VIII.

O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy Name in all the earth who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent in all the earth doth prove

Thy name! who thy great glory hast. the heavens set above.

2 Out of the mouth of babes▪ and suckling… hast thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemie and the avenger.

2 Thou hast ordain'd strength out of babe… and sucklings mouths also,

Because of thy foes that thou migh'st th'avnger still and foe.

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon, and the stars which thou hast ordained;

3 When I thy heav'ns consider that work of thy fingers be

The moon and likewise all the stars that were ordain'd by thee.

4 What is man that thou art mindfull of him? and the son of man that thou visitest him▪

4 O what is man that thou of him should thus so mindfull be?

And what mans son, that he should so be visited by thee?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower then the Angels: and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

5 For then the Angels thou hast him a little lower made:

With glory and with honour als thou crowned hast his head.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands: thou hast put all things under his feet.

6 Thou madst him have dominion ov'r the works of thy hand,

Under his feet thou also hast put all things by command.

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field.

8 The fowle of the air, and the fish of the sea,

7 All sheep and oxen, yea and als beasts of the field that be.

8 The fowle that is into the air and fishes of the sea.

And whatsoever passeth thorow the pathes of the seas.

9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

And whatsoever through the paths doth of the seas passe forth.

9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent's thy Name in all the earth!
