PSAL. CVII.

O Give thanks unto the Lord for he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

THank God for he is good; for ay his mercy during stands:

2 Let Gods redeem'd say so, whom he redeem'd from th'enemies hands,

3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

3 And he likewise out of the lands did gather them distrest,

From South and also from the North, from East and from the West.

4 They wandred in the wildernesse, in a solitary way: they found no city to dwell in.

4 They wandred in the wildernesse, a solitary way,

They found no city there at all wherein then dwell could they.

5 Hungry and thirsty: their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble: and he delivered them out of their distresses.

5 They hungry were, and thirsty als their soul did in them faint:

6 To God they cri'd in straits, who them help in distresses sent.

7 And he led them forth by the right way: that they might go to a city of habitation.

7 And by the way that right is he did lead them forth, that so

They of an habitation might to a city go.

8 O that men would praise the Lord for his goodnesse: and for his wonderfull works to the children of men.

8 Oh that men to the Lord would give praise for his goodnesse then,

And for his works so wonderfull unto the sons of men.

9 For he satisfieth the longing soul: and filleth the hungry soul with goodnesse.

9 For he the soul that longing is doth satisfie at will,

And he the soul that hungry is doth with his goodnesse fill.

10 Such as sit in darknesse, and in the shadow of death: being bound in affliction and i…on:

10 Such as do into darknesse sit, and in deaths shade are found,

Who being in affliction, and yron also bound.

11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsell of the most High:

11 Because against the words of God they thus rebelled then▪

And of him that is the most High the counsell did contemn.

12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour: they sell down, and there was none to help.

12 Therefore with labour hard their heart he did bring down anone:

So by the same they down did fall, and there to help was none.

13 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble: and he saved them out of their distresses.

13 Then in the time they troubled were they to the Lord did cry,

And out of their distresses them he saved by and by.

14 He brought them out of darknesse and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

14 Then did he out of darknesse them, and from deaths shadow take,

The bands that were upon them laid in sunder all he brake.

15 O that men would praise the Lord for his goodnesse: and for his wonderfull works to the children of men.

15 Oh that men to the Lord would give praise for his goodnesse then,

And for his works so wonderfull unto the sons of men.

16 For he hath broken the gates of brasse and …ut the bars of iron in sunder.

16 For he the gates that were of brasse hath broken, and withall

The barres that were of yron strong he cut in sunder all.

17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of mean and they draw neer unto the gates of death.

17 For their transgression and their sine fools are afflicted heer,

18 All manner of meats their soul abhors, they to deaths gates draw near.

19 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble▪ he saveth them out of their distresses.

19 The… in the time they troubled are they to the Lord do cry,

And out of their distresses them he saveth by and by.

20 He sent his word, and healed them: and delivered them from their destructions.

20 Unto them he did send his word, and heal'd them altogether:

And he from their destructions did also them diliver.

21 O that men would praise the Lord for his goodnesse: and for his wonderfull works to the children of mem.

21 Oh that men to the Lord would give praise for his goodnesse then,

And for his works so wonderfull unto the sons of men.

22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving: and declare his works with rejoycing.

22 Of thanks let them all sacrifice the sacrifices rare;

And let them with rejoicing great the works of his declare.

23 They that go down to the sea in ships, and do businesse in great waters.

24 These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.

23 Who in great waters businesse do, and go in ships to sea,

24 Within the deep those of the Lord the works and wonders see.

25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind: which lifteth up the waves thereof.

25 For he commandement doth give, and stormy wind doth raise,

Which lifteth up with violence thereof the raging waves.

26 They mount up to the heaven: they go down again to the depths, their soul is melted because of trouble.

26 They to the heaven do mount up to depths go down again,

Their soul within them melted is, because of trouble then.

27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man: and are at their wits end.

28 Then they crie unto the Lord in their trouble: and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

27 Like to one drunk, reel, stagger they, at their wits end they be:

28 Then they in trouble cry to God, them from distresse brings he.

29 He maketh the storm a calm: so that the waves thereof are still.

29 The raging storm to be a calm …he maketh at his will.

So that the waves thereof are made for to be alwayes still.

30 Then are they glad, because they be quiet▪ so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

30 Then are they all made to be glade, because they quiet be:

So unto their▪ desired hav'n them safely bringeth hee.

31 O that men would praise the Lord for his goodnesse: and for his wonderfull works to the children of men.

31 Oh that men to the Lord would give praise for his goodnesse then,

And for his works so wonderfull unto the sons of men.

32 Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the Elders.

32 In peoples congregation als let them exalt him farre,

And in assembly give him praise of those that Elders are.

33 He turneth rivers into a wildernesse: and the water springs into dry ground.

34 A fruitfull land into barrennesse: for the wickednesse of them that dwell therein.

33 He to dry ground turns water springs, and flouds to wildernesse,

34 For sins of them that dwell therein fat land to barrennesse.

35 He turneth the wildernesse into a standing water: and dry ground into watersprings.

5 Into a standing water all the wildernesse he brings:

And he the ground that is most dry turnes into water springs.

36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell: that they may prepare a city for habitation.

36 And there he makes the hungry dwel, that they a city there

Ev'n for a habitation may for themselves prepare.

37 And sowe the fields, and plant vineyards: which may yeeld fruits of increase.

37 And plant vineyards abundantly and also sow the field,

Which may at last most plenteously the fruits of increase yeeld.

38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly: and suffereth not their cattell to decrease.

38 He also blesseth them, so that they greatly do increase,

And doth not suffer any way their cattell to decrease.

39 Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

39 Again they are diminished, and very low brought down,

Through sorrow and affliction als, and great oppression.

40 He poureth contempt upon princes: and causeth them to wander in the wilderuesse where there is no way.

40 On princes he doth poure contempt, and causeth them that they

Do wander in the wildernesse, wherein there is no way.

41 Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him familios like a …look.

41 Yet he on high those that are poor doth set from miseries,

And even like unto a flock he makes him families.

42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

42 They that are righteous shall rejoice, when they the same …all see,

And then of all iniquity the mouth shall stopped be.

43 Who so is wise and will observe those things: even they shall understand the loving kindnesse of the Lord.

43 Who so is wise and will observe those things how they befall,

The loving kindnesse of the Lord well understand they …hall.

PSAL. CVIII.

O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

2 Awake psaltery and harp: I my self will awake early.

MY heart is fixt, I'le sing and praise, Lord, with my glory still:

2 Awake Harp, Psaltrie, I my self awake now early will.

3 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

3 O Lord among the people I will praise unto thee bring,

And I among the Nations will praises to thee sing.

4 For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

4 For great thy mercy is above the Heavens highest pitch,

And ev'n unto the highest clouds thy truth doth also reach.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth.

5 Above the Heavens, O our God, exalted high be thou,

And let thy glory be above ev'n all the earth below.

6 That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.

6 That those which thy beloved are delivered may be,

O with thy right hand do thou save and answer give to me.

7 God hath spoken in his holinesse, I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem: and mete out the valley of Succoth.

7 God in his holinesse did speak, I joyfull will abide,

8 Mine Gilead, mine Manasses is the strength als of mine head

Is Ephraim, and Judah he my law-giver is made.

9 Moab is my wash pot, over Edom will I cast out my shoe, over Philistia will I triumph.

9 Moab my washpot is, I'le out my shoe ov'r Edom thro,

And over all Philistia I will triumphing go.

10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

10 Who is he now that will me bring into the city strong?

And into Edom who is he that will me lead along?

11 Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

11 O God, thou who hast cast us off, wilt thou the same not do?

And wilt not thou, ev'n thou, O God, forth with our armies go?

12 Give us help from trouble: for vain i the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

12 Do thou from trouble give us help, for mans help vain is all:

13 Through God we shall do valiantly our foes tread down he shall.
