The Generall Table of the whole.
The History of the Church frō the beginning of the World vntounto this present Age wherein we liue, digested into 2. seuerall Tomes:
One, of the Bookes of the Old-Testament that are Canonicall; in which Tome, we hauehave (of our discourse) two seueral Bookes;
One, of History.
The other, of Doctrine.
The other consisting of two seuerall Bookes likewise;
One, of the bookes of the New Testament.
The other a short Storie of the estate of the Church since.
The Table of the first Booke of the first Tome.
In the former book… of these 2. Tomes, which is of …ry (besides the Title of the Bible, as it is commonly called, apertaining vntounto the whole, which also we hauehave in the 1. chapter therof) wee hauehave two principal stories:
One, i… … Story of the whole world.
First, how God made all thinges in the beginning. Chapt. 1.
Then, i… what case thinges after-warde stoode (viz:)
First, one speciall matter that fell out while they were but two persons only, euen the ruine or fall of man. Chapt. 2.
Then such thinges as followed, when they were encreased farther.
First, of two speciall Sonnes of Adam and E…: Kaine the one; Abel the other. Chap. 3.
Then, of the residue, … all the race of mankind, till it pleased GOD to hauehave one peculiar people among them. Chapt. 4.
The other, a more speciall Storie of the peculiar people of god But wheras there be others also that may seem to be of this cōpany, but yet are not, our Storie
…rst, …th somewhat treat of them both: & therein,
First, of those that were his peculiar people indeede, and therein,
First, vntill hee had raised them to be a people: and therein,

Then, when once they were in bondage: both how they came into it; and how they were againe deliuered, Chap. 6.
Then, when he had them in the wildernes: at which time their story is,
First, of one yeare when they first came thither Chapt. 7.
Then, of the residue, wh…le they were there, Chap. 8.
Then, by degression, of those others also: so taking in the Story of Iob. Chapt. 9.
Thē returning to the peculiar people of God againe it dooth thenceforth altogether proceede of them. And whereas God before had made two …eciall promises to Abraham, one, of the Land wherein he soiourned, the other, of the promised and Blessed Seede.
The former of those by the Ministery of Iosuah. was very fully performed …nto them: hee both bringing them into the land, & giuing them quiet possession of it ch. …0
The latter of thē being of that Blessed & the Promised Seede. Concerning which before it could be performd vntounto thē
For a time they were all one people.
First, vnderunder their Iudges; euen vntil … time of Sa… which also mingled with some part of the raign of Saul. Ch. 11. Then, vnderunder one of their kings, namely, k. Saul: in that part of his raigne, which no way mingled with that time of ye Prophes Samuel before. Chap. 12.
But after they beganne to be diuided: and we find that so they did two seuerall times.

First, for the for part of that kingdom. ch. 15
Then, for the latter part also. Chap. 16.
The other of Iuda. Concerning which we hauehave likewise deliuered vntounto vsus, in what sort it afterward stood.
First, so long as vnderunder their owne Kinges they were a free people.
First, againe for the sore-part of this kingdome also. Chap. 17.
Then, for the latter. Chap. 18.
Then, whē they were giuen vp to be in subiect on to others, whereby their estate was such, as that out of it certaine doubtes may arise: & so are we
First, to consider of that their seruile estate,
First, in a Forraygne Countrey: as they were Captiues in Babylon. Chap 19.
Then, in their owne Countrey also; the most of which wee hauehave set downe in the word of God.
First, by the way of Historie; and vnderunder the Persians. Chapter 20.
Then, by the way of Prophesie, and vnderunder others. Chapter 21.
Then, as touching those doubts, we hauehave likewise declared, how we are to resolue our selues therein. Chapt. 22.
The Table of the second Booke of the first Tome.
The latter of those two Bookes of the first Tome, is for the most part, of Doctrine onelyonly: and,

In the former of which,
He that hath his time acred, is A…: of whom we hauehave, Chap. 16.
